By virtue of the National Information and Communication Technology (NICT) Act 2009, NICTA has assumed all relevant ICT regulatory functions and powers from the Independent Consumer Competition Commission (ICCC) and effectively replaces its precursor, PANGTEL, to be the sole ICT Industry regulator and licensing authority in Papua New Guinea.
