Exciting Scholarship Opportunity available for Girls!
The National Information & Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) is the government agency responsible for the regulation and licensing of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Papua New Guinea (PNG), in respect of the areas of broadcasting; internet service provision; radiocommunications; and telecommunications.
In line with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) objective to grow the number of women/girls that are making a career in the ICT world, and in keeping with the national objective to empower women in PNG, NICTA launched the NICTA Girls in ICT Tertiary Scholarship programme in 2013 and commenced scholarship in 2016 with currently 15 successful scholars on board. Through this programme NICTA supports the education of girls in PNG, in an ICT related field of study. The scholarship covers full tuition, boarding and lodging fee, textbook and stationary, fortnightly stipend and travel expenses for the duration of the study.
NICTA is now offering 4 scholarships for 2021 and is calling for applications from suitable candidates!
Eligibility to Apply:
Applicants must be;
- Female and just completed grade 12 this year 2020 (School Leaver);
- Achieve a Higher School Certificate (HSC) “B” grade average and above, in a science major stream; Having the right attitude and behavior
- Selected or accepted for a first degree program in Electrical & Communications Engineering, Computer Science, IT or an ICT related course at a NICTA recognized tertiary institution in PNG;
