NICTA wishes to inform the general public and ICT stakeholders that only a person that is licensed and registered with NICTA in accordance with the National Information and Communications Technology Act, 2009 is permitted to perform ICT cabling work in PNG.

A person must not perform a particular type of cabling work unless:

i. the person is the holder of an appropriate NICTA ICT Cabling Licence that authorises the performance of that type of cabling work; or
ii. the person performs the work under the supervision of the holder of a ICT Cabling Licence that authorizes the performance of that type of cabling work.

Offence Relating to Unlicensed Cabling Work

i. A person(s) other than a cabling licence holder, who performs cabling work without a valid NICTA licence, is guilty of an offence and shall be fined K15,000.00 or face imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or both.
ii. A cabling licence holder, who knowingly or recklessly contravenes the condition of their cabling licence is guilty of an offence and shall be fined K15,000.00 or face imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or both.

NICTA inspectors will conduct random inspections on internal and external ICT cabling work to ensure compliance to NICTA regulatory requirements.
