Universal Access Projects 2017 – Public Consultation

The National Information and Communications Technology Act 2009 (‘the Act”) established the Universal Access and Service Board (UAS Board) to identify, develop and cost projects aimed at extending ICT services to rural and unserved areas of PNG. The UAS Board is supported by a Universal Access Secretariat within NICTA.

Pursuant to Section 108 of the Act, the UAS Board is required to engage with NICTA through the Universal Access Secretariat to prepare annual Universal Access Projects Report. For this purpose NICTA hereby gives notice that it is conducting a public consultation on the Universal Access Projects proposed for 2017.

NICTA has published a Consultation Paper discussing these issues and invites all interested stakeholders, including ICT licensees and members of the general public to submit written comments and contributions (including Universal Access Project proposals) in response to it.

Submissions must be in writing and should be submitted by email to: consultation.submission@nicta.gov.pg by close of business on January 29, 2017.

The Consultation Paper can be obtained from the NICTA Head Office located at Section 34, Lot 19 & 20 Frangipani Street, Hohola, Port Moresby or downloaded from the NICTA Public Register on its website: www.nicta.gov.pg
