Save the Children
The quest to fight internet abuse in the Pacific region took a positive step forward today with Save the Children, a leading humanitarian organization for children launching “I Am Digital” program in collaboration with Facebook to educate and empower youth and adults to have safer, more positive online experiences.
The event hosted in Fiji was also observed in neighboring Pacific Island countries including, Tonga, Samoa and Papua New Guinea.
The Papua New Guinea Safer Internet Committee was represented by Andirauga Nongkas from NICTA who revealed the details of the #saferinternetday celebration on the 09th of February 2021 and further affirm the need for parents, caregivers and those in position of influence to help the children and young people develop digital resilience and intelligence and to be kind and respectful online.
